The following has been appropriated from the journal of John Flaherty and the letters of his secret admirer.
October 1, 199-
I received the first of her letters last week and I want to write about them now. I feel it will be good for me and will maybe cut down on the desire I feel, already, for someone who promises there'll be more. More letters to come. She just calls herself P.J., which doesn't help at all. (Although she did mention a mutual friend . . . ?) I feel like I know this girl already, but I'm intrigued enough with her to know there's much more to discover.
Dear John,
I'm just writing this without thinking. I've long been an admirer of yours.
Please. This is not a joke.
I'd like to know you sometime. But I'd just as soon keep it like this for now.My name . . . I'll leave that a mystery, but just tell you that I knew you in high school . . . and I'm trying to keep up with you in college . . . through a mutual friend. I have long brown hair, greenish-hazel eyes, and a fairly attractive figure. Nothing major. I have no real interests other than rock music . . .
REAL rock music. Like you do.
Listening to it, singing and jamming along.
I'd like to contact you again . . . but I don't feel I can say more than that right now.
P.J.
P.S. This is not a joke.
